You must prepare for medical emergencies (you'll need plenty of anti-diarrhea medication in the contaminated-water-life of the year 2000) and you should probably take a few first aid courses too! You also need many batteries and to replace all the locks on your house to guard against looters!

Lots of warnings about the ways you can poison or accidentally set fire to yourself while trying to feed or heat your self and other pitfalls of life post-1999.

BUT, most interesting are the predictions by the experts, most of which warn against significant disruption of power, water, medical services, transportation and more! Your money will be worthless, so be ready to BARTER. And there is plenty of commentary about how poorly industry and the government are preparing for January 1, 2000.
